photograffs

So when I was helping promote a festival recently, I put some flyers down in one of the more interesting cafe’s in the city. I’m always down for street press – I guess it ’s like another heartbeat that says, wait a second, there are people in this city who are thinking and making art for the hell of it.

so I picked up this book of photos, tied together with ribbon and with a little card attached. pretty simple, but really effective. mainly b&w photos of ye olde Sydney towne.

not exactly sure what the photographers story is, but to be honest, I don’t wanna know. pretty sure she from the Can-Can though. I checked out the phlog and so should you: http://photographsandacupoftea.blogspot.com/

Power to the people. Right on.

I’ve been intending to go see Obey’s exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery for a while, but only just got around to it today. I’m always moved by the messages contained in the prints and artwork of Shepherd Fairey. His work screams softly about the nature of humanity and our place in society. Whilst the display of his work at the National Portrait Gallery is by no means substantial, its impact is still profound. Even the straight portraits in three or four colours are insightful, tailored to convey the essence of the individual and their message. Their style.

Don’t snooze on this as it ends on the 17th of Jan.

PS. while you’re there, check out the other parts of the gallery with collections of portraits in heaps of different formats. And the best part? no clams down.

Crumbs vs Hong 10:

This will go down in history as one of the greatest exhibition/battles to take place. Was held at “Evolution 4″ in Atlanta in Dec 09.

Two legends repping two eras, go head to head. Crumbs of Killafornia/Style Elements and Hong 10 of Drifters Crew. Both these guys have been an influential part of the hip hop scene in their own right.  Sit back watch and enjoy.

Big shout outs to Strife.tv for capturing this footage. They did a great job and keep pushing forward documenting the bboy scene. Check em out on Youtube and BBoyworld.
