A-TRAK will be playing in Canberra this Friday night @ UC. A few of us will be in attendence. First time I checked him out was like 02/03 alongside his crew the Allies which was a hardcore turntablist showcase.

I’m sure this time round he’ll be doin more of a party rockin set, but I still hope he rips it which no doubt he will.

RIP. He was one of the dopest tablist and his battles with the Executioners against the ISP was legendary.

The rep confirmed that Roc Raida was hospitalized last week, but would only state that the DJ’s death was totally “unexpected.

Mita Sneaker is a JP institution when it comes to dope sneakers. I’ve been to Tokyo twice and and I always blow mad cash at this joint which is located in the market place of Ueno (pronounced Wayno).

Anyways Mita has been involved with what seems to be another promising colab with MadHectic and New Balance.

So as some of you know…well most of you should, “Shadow Warz” is just round the corner. One of…if not the premier B-Boy Jam on the Australian B-Boy/Hip Hop Calander. Rush was nice enough to spare some time and get talking about Shadow Warz, how it came about and what him and Mason got going down. Here’s what he had to say…

Ravs: How do you think shadow wars has developed over the last 5 years?

Rush: ITS A REALLY COOL STORY ACTUALLY HOW IT BEGAN. I WAS WORKING IN THIS CLOTHING STORE IN BONDI WITH THIS CAT ROSS. ANYWAYS ROSS TELLS ME HIS MATE MASON IS GONNA POP IN TO SAY HELLO. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME I MET MASE, I LIKED HIS ENERGY AND HIS POSITIVE VIBES…..ANYWAYS HE TELLS ME HES MAKING THIS BBOY DOCO, AT FIRST I WAS LIKE “HUH THIS OZZY SURFER DUDE WANTS TO MAKE A BBOY DOCO?” LOL….SO YEAH HE INVITES ME TO THE FIRST PREMIERE OF SS AND THERES LIKE 4 BBOYS AND ITS AT THIS SMALL BAR IN THE CROSS…..AND A BUNCH OF SURFERS HAHA…..ANYWAYS FROM THAT DAY ON WE PRETTY MUCH CLICKED ANT PUT OUR TWO MASSIVE HEADS TOGETHER AND SET OUT TO MAKE THIS THING BIG. YEAR AFTER THAT WE HAD OUR FIRST CREW BATTLES, WE HAD 4 CREWS. YEAR AFTER THAT WE HAD 8 CREWS……NOW IN 2009 WE GOT 16 CREWS, 16 ONE ON ONE BBOYS AND A TON OF HEADS WHO ARE COMIN THROUGH TO SUPPORT THE REAL! MUCH LOVE TO EVERYONE

Ravs: Last year you had dudes like Physicx, Hong 10, Lillou, Pelzhino, Roxrite just to name a few down all who have repped it hard at BCone. What can we expect this year?

Rush: THIS YEARS GONNA BE OF THE SAME STANDARD BUT WID A LITTLE TWIST COS WE LIKE EVERY YEAR TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT. WE GOT KID DAVID COMING BACK TO REPRESENT AND WE ALSO GOT MENNO FROM HUSTLE KIDZ COMING, HE WON THE UK CHAMPS ONE ON ONES FEW YEARS BACK, THIS DUDES ILL! ANYWAYS MASE HAD THE AWESOME IDEA OF ALSO GETTING A HYPE MC FOR THE JAM….AND BBOY WISE THERES NO ONE HYPER THAN TRIXX! IF YOUVE SEEN A BATTLE OF THE YEAR BEFORE THAN YOU KNOW HOW HECTIC THIS DUDE IS…ITS GOING TO BE EPIC!!

Ravs: Rush man you’ve been into the b-boy scene for quite some time now and are lucky enough to have travelled the world through B-oying, what are the main difference between the scene we got in Asia, North Amercia and Europe?

Rush: I THINK WHATS UNIQUE ABOUT AUSTRALIAN BBOYS IS THEY LOVE TO TAKE THE PISS OUT OF EACH OTHER AND ITS SEEN AS A TERM OF INDEARMENT LOL OZZY BBOYS LIKE TO HAVE ALOT OF FUN WHEN THEY DANCE AND HAVE THE ODD LAUGH, ALOT MORE IVE NOTICED THAN OTHER SCENES.

Ravs: So what’s up? Does the winner this year get to rep it at BCOne NYC????

Rush: AS FAR AS WE KNOW…NOPE, NOT THIS YEAR…BUT ITS ALSO COME AS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE BECAUSE NOW WE CAN BREAK OFF AND DO SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT AND WONT BE WORRYING WHETHER OR NOT IT FITS THE BCONE CRITERIA. DONT GET ME WRONG, BCONE IS HECTIC! BUT WE ALWAYS GOTTA STAY POSITIVE AND LOOK AT ELEVATING CONSTANTLY, GIVING THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT!

Ravs: Why should heads rock up to shadow warz?

Rush :YOU’D MISS OUT ON SO MUCH FUN AND GOOD VIBES! EVEN IF YOU AINT INTO BREAKING, WE’LL HAVE GRAFFITI GOING DOWN, ILL DJ’S AND JUST A BUNCH OF COOL PEOPLE WHO ARE ALL THEIR WITH POSITIVE INTENTIONS….WE’RE NOT A BUNCH OF GANGSTERS OR STREET THUGS AND WE’RE HERE TO REPRESENT REAL HIPHOP AND SHOW A GOOD EXAMPLE TO THE NEXT GENERATION!
